Changelog

What changed in Kiste and its CLI.

New CLI versions arrive with kiste self-update. New Kiste images are announced by kiste list, and kiste update applies them; see Update a Kiste.

Platform

  • Automatic checkpoints. Every Kiste is checkpointed every five minutes when its disk changed, and when it stops, restarts, is forked or deleted. Checkpoints are encrypted and kept off-site in two EU locations, and restore on demand. See Checkpoints and snapshots.
  • Kiste Stream. Published ports live at their own address under kiste.stream, as separate sites with their own cookies. See Kiste Stream.
  • Desktop at desktop.kiste.run. Desktop links are reusable, account-bound and expire after one hour by default; several viewers can watch one desktop.
  • Device keys. Every computer you sign in on gets its own SSH key, and every Kiste accepts all of them.
  • Account. Self-service data export and account deletion.
  • Status page at kiste.run/status.
  • Documentation at docs.kiste.run.

CLI 0.1.1

  • The full command set as kiste and kst: Kisten, SSH, files, forwarding, desktop links, Kiste Stream, snapshots, images, environments, commands, coding agents, credentials, API keys.
  • --output human|json|ndjson, stable exit codes and registered error codes with request IDs.
  • Plain ssh NAME.kiste works after kiste login.
  • Signed releases: the installer and self-update verify the release signature and refuse an older release served as a newer one.
  • Shell completions that know your Kisten by name.

The complete list is in the CLI reference.
