# Limits

> How many ports you can publish, request rates, WebSocket messages, timeouts and request sizes on Kiste Stream.

| WebSocket messages | up to 16 MiB each |
| Idle WebSocket | closed after 5 minutes without a message |
| Connecting to the app for a WebSocket | 3 seconds; an app that doesn't accept in time answers [S04](https://docs.kiste.run/errors/s.md#s04) |

A published port that gets more requests than it may answers `429` with
`Retry-After`. Request bodies are streamed to the app, so uploads aren't limited
by size here; the app decides what it accepts.

| Code | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| [S04](https://docs.kiste.run/errors/s.md#s04) | The app isn't answering: it doesn't run, listens on another port or only on `127.0.0.1`, or the Kiste is stopped. |
| [S05](https://docs.kiste.run/errors/s.md#s05) | The request can't be passed on, for example an unsupported method. |
| [S06](https://docs.kiste.run/errors/s.md#s06) | Nothing is published at this address (anymore). |
| [S07](https://docs.kiste.run/errors/s.md#s07) | The app gets more requests than Kiste passes on. Try again shortly. |
