# Browser terminal

> A terminal into a running Kiste right in the console, without installing anything.

The console has a terminal under **Terminal**: choose a running Kiste and you
get a shell in the browser, with nothing to install. It is handy on a borrowed
computer, a tablet, or to fix something quickly.

The browser terminal uses its own short-lived authorization from your console
session, not SSH, so it works without a device key. It ends when you close the
tab, and [sign out everywhere](https://docs.kiste.run/account/sessions.md#sign-out-everywhere) closes it
too.

For longer work, the [desktop](https://docs.kiste.run/desktop.md) has a full terminal app, and the CLI
gives you [SSH](https://docs.kiste.run/ssh.md) with your own terminal and editor.
