# L: Limits and capacity

> Every L error code: what it means, when it happens and how to fix it.

16 codes. Each one is part of an error answer as `code`; `type` is the stable name that scripts branch on. The CLI shows the code at the end of its message, for example `(code: L01)`. Words in braces, such as `{name}`, are filled in with the actual value.

## L01

`rate_limited` · HTTP 429

> Too many requests. Please wait {seconds} seconds and try again. (code: L01)

**When it happens.** The account or address sent more requests of this kind than allowed in a short time.

**How to fix it.** Wait, then try again.

**Retry.** Yes, after 60 seconds. The answer carries `Retry-After`.

## L02

`machine_limit` · HTTP 409

> Your account's Kiste limit is {limit}. (code: L02)

**When it happens.** Creating a Kiste would exceed the number of Kisten your account may have.

**How to fix it.** Delete a Kiste first.

**Retry.** No. Retrying the same request gives the same answer.

## L03

`running_limit` · HTTP 409

> Your account's limits for running Kisten at once are reached: {machines} running, {vcpu} vCPU, {memory_gib} GiB of memory. (code: L03)

**When it happens.** Starting or creating a Kiste would exceed what your account may run at once.

**How to fix it.** Stop a Kiste first.

**Retry.** No. Retrying the same request gives the same answer.

## L04

`disk_limit` · HTTP 409

> Your Kisten and snapshots may use at most {gib} GiB of disk. (code: L04)

**When it happens.** Creating a Kiste or snapshot would exceed your account's disk space.

**How to fix it.** Delete a Kiste or snapshot first.

**Retry.** No. Retrying the same request gives the same answer.

## L05

`machine_size_limit` · HTTP 409

> That Kiste is larger than your account allows: {detail}. (code: L05)

**When it happens.** A requested Kiste has more vCPU, memory or disk than one Kiste of your account may have.

**How to fix it.** Choose a smaller size.

**Retry.** No. Retrying the same request gives the same answer.

## L06

`image_limit` · HTTP 409

> Your account's image limit is {limit}. (code: L06)

**When it happens.** Creating an image would exceed your account's image limit.

**How to fix it.** Delete an image first.

**Retry.** No. Retrying the same request gives the same answer.

## L07

`webhook_limit` · HTTP 409

> Your account's webhook endpoint limit is {limit}. (code: L07)

**When it happens.** Creating a webhook endpoint would exceed the limit.

**How to fix it.** Delete an endpoint first.

**Retry.** No. Retrying the same request gives the same answer.

## L08

`api_token_limit` · HTTP 409

> Your account's limit of active API keys is {limit}. (code: L08)

**When it happens.** Creating an API key would exceed the limit of active keys.

**How to fix it.** Revoke a key first.

**Retry.** No. Retrying the same request gives the same answer.

## L09

`device_key_limit` · HTTP 409

> Your account's limit of signed-in computers is {limit}. (code: L09)

**When it happens.** Registering this computer would exceed the number of computers per account.

**How to fix it.** Sign out a computer you no longer use.

**In the CLI.** Remove a computer with `kiste devices`, then try again.

**Retry.** No. Retrying the same request gives the same answer.

## L10

`test_account_limit` · HTTP 409

> The test account limit is {limit}. (code: L10)

**When it happens.** Creating a test account would exceed the limit.

**How to fix it.** Delete a test account first.

**Retry.** No. Retrying the same request gives the same answer.

## L11

`service_limit` · HTTP 409

> The limit of published apps per Kiste is {limit}. (code: L11)

**When it happens.** Publishing an app would exceed the number of apps per Kiste.

**How to fix it.** Unpublish an app first.

**Retry.** No. Retrying the same request gives the same answer.

## L12

`ssh_connection_limit` · HTTP 409

> You have too many SSH connections open (at most {limit}). (code: L12)

**When it happens.** Opening another SSH connection would exceed the per-account limit.

**How to fix it.** Close some connections and try again.

**Retry.** No. Retrying the same request gives the same answer.

## L13

`capacity_unavailable` · HTTP 503

> There's no free capacity for this Kiste right now. (code: L13)

**When it happens.** The computers that run Kisten are full for this size at the moment.

**How to fix it.** Try again in a few minutes.

**Retry.** Yes, after 60 seconds. The answer carries `Retry-After`.

## L14

`connection_capacity` · HTTP 503

> Too many connections are open right now. (code: L14)

**When it happens.** The computer that runs this Kiste has reached its limit of open terminal, SSH or app connections.

**How to fix it.** Try again in a moment.

**Retry.** Yes, with backoff: wait a moment and try again, waiting longer each time.

## L15

`environment_limit` · HTTP 409

> Your account's environment limit is {limit}. (code: L15)

**When it happens.** Creating an environment would exceed your account's environment limit.

**How to fix it.** Update an existing environment instead of creating another one.

**Retry.** No. Retrying the same request gives the same answer.

## L16

`command_limit` · HTTP 409

> You have too many commands running at once (at most {limit}). (code: L16)

**When it happens.** Starting another command would exceed the number of commands one account may run at once.

**How to fix it.** Wait for a command to finish or interrupt one, then try again.

**Retry.** Yes, with backoff: wait a moment and try again, waiting longer each time.
