# Export your data

> Download everything Kiste stores about your account as one JSON file, from the console or the CLI.

You can download everything Kiste stores about your account at any time, as
one JSON file: the account and sign-in records kiste.run keeps, and the records
the compute service keeps for you, such as your Kisten, snapshots, images,
environments, published ports, webhooks and alerts.

## Console

In the [console](https://console.kiste.run/app/account), open **Account** and
choose **Download my data**.

## CLI

```bash
kiste account export                       # saves kiste-account-export-<date>.json here
kiste account export --output export.json
kiste account export --output -            # prints it
```

`kiste account` arrives with CLI 0.1.1.

## API

`POST /v1/me/export` answers with a download link that works for ten minutes
and only for the same account; `GET` on that link downloads the file. See
[Export your data](https://docs.kiste.run/api/account.md#export-your-data).

The export holds data *about* your account. The files inside your Kisten are
yours to copy with [scp, rsync](https://docs.kiste.run/ssh/files.md) or `kiste ssh`.
